After Ten Years of Efforts, High-power COB Product with Variable Color Temperature made a debut at China Road Lighting Forum

From April 9 to April 11, the 18th China Road Lighting Forum with the theme of “Promoting the Urban Lighting Construction by Smart Street Lamps” was successfully held in Guangzhou. The authoritative experts, scholars, engineers and representatives of upstream, midstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain from all over the country gathered in Guangzhou to discuss the development status with focus on the industrial emphasis and exert joint efforts to the development of road lighting in China while exploring new development direction of the development of lighting industry.  

As a leader in the field of high-power COB LED lighting, Changchun Cedar Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. was invited to attend the Forum. Dr. Wang Yang, the Deputy General Manager of the Company, delivered a keynote speech entitled the High-power COB with Variable Color Temperature Ushering in a New Era for Application of LED Road Lighting, and conducted an in-depth exchange on promoting high-level development and industry cooperation of urban road lighting, so as to better empower the urban road lighting.

At the Forum, Dr. Wang Yang indicated that, Cedar Electronics has spent over ten years on tackling hard-nut problems in science and technology in the field of high-power COB lighting, and formed the core optical devices, heat dissipation and whole lamp integration technology with independent intellectual property rights through the transformation of achievements from the “Brilliant Action” program of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the “13th Five-year Plan” national key R&D projects, with key technical indicators including 2200K low color temperature and high-power COB reaching the international advanced level. The high-power COB lighting products have been widely applied in the places such as urban roads, squares, airports, railways and highways, and we completed the projects with important influence such as 2200K 500W COB high-pole lamps for Shenzhen Baoan Airport, kW-scale COB floats for the National Day and improvement of urban lighting in Changchun. He emphasized the features of high-power COB products with variable color temperature, which may usher in the new era for application of LED road lighting in future and lead the industry development.

At the Forum, Cedar Electronics showcased the first-of-its-kind lighting product -- Chenxin high-power COB LED module street lamps, which had a number of technical innovations and breakthroughs in the field of LED lighting: 

1. Standardized module, small size and high energy

Cedar carried out standard module design in accordance with the national standard Application and Interface Requirements for LED Lighting, and the 150W single module can effectively replace three prevailing modules (50W) in the industry and realize high power, small volume and light weight. It can reduce the cost of lamp housing, lamp pole and capital construction, improve the safety and allow for wider application, thus creating greater commercial value for customers. 

2. Stability, reliability and efficient heat dissipation

The phase-change heat dissipation technology is adopted to take away the heat of COB light source quickly by the vapor-liquid phase change of heat-conducting working medium in the phase change cavity, effectively reduce the chip junction temperature, satisfy the heat dissipation demand of COB light source with high power density, and enable high reliability, long service life and low lumen depreciation of products.

3. Optical glass lens, zero lumen depreciation and free of electrostatic adsorption  

The secondary optical lens is made of glass, with resistance to high and low temperature, working temperature of -50℃～500℃, impact resistance up to IK09, corrosion resistance, salt resistance, UV resistance, no electrostatic adsorption and self-cleaning ability, and no aging and yellowing may occur to affect the light transmittance after long-term use.

4. Precise light distribution and variable color temperature

It may satisfy various road standards and allow for industry-leading precise light distribution and distribution combinations. Through the spread-light lens design, it can realize large wide bar ratio and large distance bar ratio, remove the longitudinal and transverse lighting bright and dark area of roads, improve the utilization ratio and uniformity of the light on the roads, effectively reduce the glare and lower the project costs for lamp poles and capital construction by integrated lighting design. It may be applied in the scenarios of 50m pole distance and high space-depth ratio and two-way 8-10 lanes (40m road width). The product may adopt single COB light source with variable color temperature to allow for continuous adjustment of 2200K-6000K color temperature and uniform distribution of high and low color temperature, providing good light distribution and uniformity and high cost performance.
